JAMB had promised to conduct the 2018 UTME Mock Exam on the 1st Week of February. In fact, it was earlier scheduled to hold between January 22nd and 24th. Here we are; it's the first week of February! We're just as eager to know the exact official date for the JAMB Mock for the 2018 UTME, just as every other JAMB Candidate.
For those of you who would be priviledged to write the Mock Exam for 2018 UTME, please don't take this test for granted. Prepare and write it like it were the real exam. As a matter of fact, all JAMB Candidates should start preparing for the 2018 UTME. Exam is in March! First Week of March for that Matter! Download the JAMB CBT Mobile App for 2018 UTME and/or 2018 JAMB CBT Computer Software from Eduportalblog. It will definitely help you.
The photo card printing for the Mock Exam is yet to begin. The commencement date will be made known in the coming days, when the official dates, for the exam, are announced. Candidates who selected to write the Mock Exam will be expected to print the photocard before the actual exam date. You will be duly guided here on Eduportalblog, so keep visiting this website daily.
For those who would not be writing the mock exam, don't ever worry. Eduportalblog is here to guide you till you finally get admitted. 2018 UTME 1.2 Million Candidates Has So Far Registered

About 1.2 million Nigerians have so far registered for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination, according to statistics from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
Speaking on the registration process on Monday, the JAMB's Head of Media, Dr Benjamin stated that candidates could pick a College of Education, the Nigeria Defence Academy or the Police Academy as their institution of first choice.
He also gave the assurance that the examination would not fall short of the expectations of Nigerians.
The examination is expected to hold between March 9th - 17th, 2018.

2017 Admission Deadline: 99% of tertiary institutions complied - JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has stated that the level of compliance by tertiary institutions to its January 25th admission deadline was 99 percent.
About 1 percent of the tertiary institutions were unable to meet the deadline though no reason was given for this.
Also the names of instkitutions that comply and the ones that did not comply were not mentioned. We equally do not know if any sanction will be given to schools that did not comply as this was not disclosed by the board.
Dr Benjamin, stressed that a uniform deadline became necessary to enusre that Academic Calendar is adhered to.
He urged candidates who have gained admissions into various institutions and are yet to register or do not have admissions by January 25 to begin making preparations for the 2018 UTME.

UNN Addendum To Supplementary Admission Lists (UTME/DE), 2017/2018 Released

The management of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has released an addendum to the ealier released UTME/DE supplementary lists of candidates offered provisional admission into the various degree programmes offered in the university for the 2017/2018 Academic Session.

Candidates offered provisional admission are required to adopt the following guidelines to regularize their acceptance of the offer:
1) Visit the University of Nigeria website (www.unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.edu.ng), log in your JAMB Registration number to generate and download a Payment Invoice which contains a Remitta number, the invoice will enable you to make payment at any Commercial Bank.
2) With the Payment Invoice, the candidate is requested to pay Twenty Five Thousand Naira Only (N25, 000.00) acceptance fee. Ensure that the Invoice number is keyed in appropriately at the Bank and obtain a confirmation slip containing your Confirmation number and Invoice number.
3) Visit the University of Nigeria website (www.unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.edu.ng) again and login your JAMB Registration Number, the Confirmation Number and Invoice Number, then print the Admission slip and complete the Acceptance Form online.
4) Proceed with other fee payments and registration as indicated on the University of Nigeria website.

3 issues students face at the end of every semester and how to deal with them

When a semester is coming to an end and examinations are approaching, certain challenges arise, these tips should help solve the problems.

Have you noticed that the end of every semester comes with the same challenges?
If you look back at the previous sessions, you'll recall that you have been going through the same issues at the end of those bygone semesters.
But you probably didn't notice these issues because you don't know they can affect your academic performance in a way.
Another semester is coming to an end, your exams are coming and those issues might present themselves again, but don't worry, there are solutions for each of these isues.
So, if you're are going through these three challenges this semester, we have the solutions here.
Running out of money
Going broke towards the end of a semester is a common issue among students, especially those in public higher institutions. This could seriously affect your performance in the exams as your motivation to study reduces because of hunger. Even if you try to, your assimilation won't be at its best.
However, this shouldn't be a problem if you know how to spend your allowance.
The truth is, some students run out of money because they don't have a budget for their expenses.
Budgeting helps you to check the estimate of how much you'll be spending for a set period of time.
Trying hard to study for exams
Of course, you're expected to study for every examination. So, how is this a problem?
Studying for the exam could become a problem when you don't understand how to prepare for it.
Some students have formed the habit of preparing for exams with a fire brigade approach. This practice only makes them rack their heads while trying to memorize a thirteen-week lecture few days to the exam. Cramming is never effective
Instead of waiting for the exam period to get close before you start reading, you can start early by devoting your free time to studying and revising the notes you made during lectures.
You can also join a study group as it helps students to learn faster.
Maintaining good grade point
The activities before exam period in some of our schools could drain students' energy. Lecturers who have not been attending classes since the beginning of the semester come to class to bombard their students with assignments and notes.
However daunting this may be, you still have to finish strong. And if you're very conscious of your grades, writing the exam and getting better grades than the ones you got last semester would be your priority.
So, let not any activity sap your energy, make time to relax, eat well and sleep well. And while you do these to regain your energy, ensure you devote enough time to study and set a goal to performe better in the exams.

What Issues Are You Facing With 2018 JAMB Registration?

The expected deadline for the 2018 UTME registration is February 6th, 2018. That's barely two weeks from now. We are not sure at the moment if the deadline will be extended. Candidates who intend to register for 2018 UTME are therefore advised to make sure they do so before the stated deadline.
Be that as it may, we are equally aware of the fact that certain issues and problems may surface during the registration which may hinder the smooth and successful registration of some candidates.
Well, if you are one of the candidates who have registered but made one two mistakes that need to be corrected or if you are among those that due to one issue or the other have been unable to successfully complete your registrations, this thread is a solution platform for you.

Nigerian Universities that Accept Lower Credit for Direct Entry

Want to apply for Direct Entry with a Lower Credit grade on your National Diploma (ND)/Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates? Most universities prefer Upper Credit to Lower Credit (in the case of ND holders), however, candidates with Lower Credit can still approach some universities to be considered for admission.

All First year Students of the Akwa Ibom State University, AKSU and those who deferred admission in the 2016/2017 session are directed to go to their Faculties for screening and registration with the following documents:
(1) Acceptance fee and school fee receipts
(2) Original and photocopies of the result(s) tendered for admission
(3) On-line computer print-out of O' Level Statements of Results (Note that Statements of Results from schools/institutions will not be accepted)

YSU Notice To Students On Reopening Of Registration Portal, 2017/2018

This is to inform students of Yobe State University (YSU), Damaturu that the following categories of students, have been given Monday 29th – Wednesday 31st January, 2018 as concession period for completion of their registration for 2017/2018 Academic Session.
Category A: Returning students whose invoices have been generated but did not pay for Registration.
Category B: New Students whose invoices have been generated, ID numbers issued, and payment made but did not complete their Departmental Registration.
Category C: New Students whose invoices have been generated, ID numbers issued, but did not make the requisite payment for Registration.
Category D: New students who have either collected or not collected their admission letters are advised to do so and proceed with Screening/Registration within the stipulated period.
This information is strictly for those who have already been admitted, please. The University Management took the above resolutions purely on compassionate grounds.

UNN Accommodation Notice To Candidates In 2nd Supplementary Admission List, 2017/2018

This is to inform all students of UNN who were admitted in the 2nd Supplementary Admission List that the management of the university has given out important infomation as it concerns Students' Accomodation for the 2017/2018.
Please if you are not in the admission list of First Years’ Supplementary List II, do not apply.
The concerned students are to note the following information;
1. The University has limited spaces for student accommodation.
2. The accommodation is allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
3. First Year and final year students are given high priority during allocation.
4. First years are allocated 40% of the total accommodation, final years 30% while others and
special needs are allocated 30%.
5. All Nursing Mothers must apply for accommodation online and must notify the authorities early.
(You are permitted to stay alone in a room or be two persons in a room).
6. The following are highly prohibited and will attract eviction from the hostel:
• Squatting of any kind.
• Late return to the hostel at night.
• Smoking.
• Drinking of Alcohol.
• Stealing.
• Fighting and quarrelling.
• Use of hotplates, electric boiling ring, refrigerator, gas cooker and so on.
• Use of generator sets.
• Defecating and bathing at undesignated places.
• Pouring of water in undesignated places.
• Defacing of Hostel walls by posting of bills, posters and any document.
7. Only students who have specifically met the following will be qualified for hostel
accommodation:
• Paid all school fees till date.
• Registered all courses online till date.
• Possess the University ID card or have been successfully captured.
• Possess and use the University student email address.
8. All hostel accommodation invoices are valid for only three days after generation. (Any student
who fails to pay online within the three day period will forfeit the allocation).
9. All Rev Sisters are to follow the authorised process for accommodation.
10. Physically challenged students must also generate invoice and proceed to make payments.

3. Click on Hostel Allocation.

6. Print the Invoice carrying your RRR number and proceed to the bank or make payment using
your ATM Card
7. Return to the portal and Click on Hostel Allocation.
8. Click on pay for your hostel and enter your Remita Retrieval Reference number.
9. Submit and print Receipt.

2018 UTME: Know The Right UTME/O'level Subject Combination For Your Course

With the end of the 2018 UTME registration just two week away, we believe the number of registrations in the remaining days will be quite intense.
However, we understand that most candidates are still finding it difficult to match their intended course of study with the right UTME and O'level subjects requirements.
One of the first steps to your admission success is choosing the right subjects combinations for your intended course of study.
Each course of study has a specific O’level and UTME Subjects requirements you must meet before you are admitted to study that course. What works for an Engineering course won’t work for a medical course.
No school will admit you to study a course you do not have the requirements for. Even if your name manage to make it to the school's admission list, you will be disqualified during the screening, verification or clearance process.
We therefore advise all candidates who will be registering for their UTME in the coming days to ensure they first go through the Online JAMB Brochure to be able to know the courses available in each higher institution, the O’level and UTME Subject combination or requirements for the courses.
